Manchester United are reportedly leading talks to sign RB Leipzig’s Yan Diomande for €90 million, aiming for a long-term deal.

Manchester United have made their intentions clear in the transfer market, stepping up efforts to sign RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande as talks between the two clubs gather momentum.
According to reports from Africa Foot, United have submitted a €90 million proposal for the highly rated Ivory Coast international. Meetings have already taken place, and Leipzig have granted United permission to open discussions with Diomande’s representatives.
Diomande, just 19 years old, has been closely monitored for weeks by several European heavyweights, including Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur, Bayern Munich and Manchester City. However, sources close to the situation suggest that United currently hold a clear advantage in the race to secure his signature.
The proposed deal underlines United’s long-term vision rather than a short-term fix. Diomande is viewed as a player with elite upside, capable of developing into a central figure in the club’s next attacking core.
United are believed to be offering a five-year contract with an option for a further year, with wages in the region of €3.5 million per season.
Final discussions are expected to progress once Diomande completes his Africa Cup of Nations commitments with Ivory Coast. The winger already has seven senior international caps, scoring twice, and is regarded as one of the most exciting attacking prospects to emerge from the Bundesliga in recent seasons.
Leipzig, however, are under no immediate pressure to sell. Diomande is contracted until June 2030. Even so, Leipzig’s decision to allow United to open talks suggests they are at least willing to explore a record-breaking sale.
The move also reflects a shift in United’s recruitment focus following the departure of Ruben Amorim, whose relationship with the club’s hierarchy — particularly director of football Jason Wilcox — was strained over transfer priorities.
United had previously explored a January move for Bournemouth winger Antoine Semenyo, signalling their desire to strengthen in wide attacking areas.
With Diomande enjoying a standout Bundesliga campaign — six goals and three assists in 14 league appearances — United appear ready to “break the bank” to secure a player who fits their renewed emphasis on youth, athleticism and long-term upside.
