GV Raja Sports School in Aruvikkara, Thiruvananthapuram Kerala, is a sports school for nurturing athletes. The contributions of Lt. Col. PR Godha Varma Raja, the father of sports in Kerala, are memorable, and the first school to nurture sports talent in Kerala was named after him in recognition of his efforts.

Famous sportsmen like Olympian Shiny Wilson, Olympian KM Beenamol, and present-day Indian hockey team captain Olympian PR Sreejesh are some of the alumni of this institution.

This school was started in 1974 at Shangumugham Beach in Thiruvananthapuram. It was relocated to Miletus in 2006. Studies from 6th to vocational higher secondary are conducted in this school. Classrooms with modern facilities and spacious playgrounds and facilities are available here. This school, which gives importance to the field of sports, has athletics, football, hockey, volleyball, cricket, judo, and boxing. It also has a multimedia room, indoor stadium, and playground (football, hockey, basketball, athletics, cricket, volleyball).

According to reports, the initiative for this school was taken by the Minister of Industries, Labor, and Sports, representatives of various Sports and Games Associations, experts in the field, and people interested in sports and games to raise the standard of sports in Kerala.

On April 7, 1970, Sri Raveendran, the Minister of Industries, Labour and Forests, decided to form a committee to plan and implement various schemes for the promotion of sports in Kerala. Accordingly, a subcommittee chaired by Justice V R Krishna Ayyar was formed and submitted a comprehensive report. For that, it was recommended to start sports hostels, sports schools, and sports divisions. Following this, the GV Raja Sports School in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, was established in 1974–75.

At present, there are 390 students in the school, and they are engaged in seven different disciplines athletics, hockey, football, volleyball, basketball, cricket, and taekwondo. Most of the students here are national medalists. The ultimate aim of the school is to produce international medal winners from the institution. To achieve this goal, the basic infrastructure should be developed, and for that, the institution needs emergency help from the department.
