Two days after Hamas released a video showing 19-year-old Israeli hostage Liri Albag urging the Israeli government to secure her release, Israeli actor Gal Gadot has joined the call, using her Instagram platform to share a heartfelt message.
Gadot, who has 108 million followers on Instagram, posted a photo of Liri Albag alongside a collage of other Israeli hostages in Hamas captivity. She spoke of the agony of waiting for the hostages’ release, noting that Albag, abducted on October 7, 2023, is one of the 99 hostages held captive for over 450 days in Hamas tunnels.
“This is Liri, only 19 years old. She was abducted by Hamas on October 7. Yesterday, we received a sign of life from Liri – a sign that sharpened the pain that Liri, along with 99 other hostages, has been held captive in Hamas tunnels for over 450 days,” said Gadot in her post, with 185,734 likes and counting, shared on Sunday.
The actor, best known for her role as Wonder Woman, expressed the emotional conflict she faces as she prepares for the upcoming Golden Globe ceremony. “On a personal level, while I prepare for a festive and joyous evening, my heart is heavy, and my soul aches knowing the hostages are still there.”
Gadot’s message also reflected her growing frustration with the ongoing lack of a solution: “I can’t stop thinking about the families waiting for them, counting the hours, the minutes, clinging to hope. They must come home. We all deserve to see them return, alive. Bring them home now.”

The video has not been independently verified, but it has brought further attention to the dire situation of the hostages. According to the Hostages and Missing Families Forum, a campaign group for relatives of those abducted, Albag’s family has not authorised the release of the video.
Since the October 2023 attack by Hamas, 251 hostages were taken, with 96 still in Gaza. Negotiations for their release are ongoing, though they have been slow and complicated. Mediators from Qatar, Egypt, and the United States have been involved, but little progress has been made.
