T.J. Srinivasaraj is set to take over as the new President of the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association at the Annual General Meeting, to be held on November 2.

Srinivasaraj is currently serving as Treasurer and will be elected unopposed on Sunday. He was the only one who had filed a nomination for the post. Similarly, M. Kumaresh (vice-president) and R. Rangarajan (Treasurer) are also set to be elected unopposed.

Srinivasaraj will replace incumbent President Dr P. Ashok Sigamani, who must serve a cooling-off period after serving as an office bearer for two consecutive terms.

Srinivasraj is Managing Director of Freight Consol International Pvt Ltd & Freyer International Logistics Pvt Ltd, which supports five teams in the TNCA league, including two in the first division (Nelson SC and Sea Hawks CC). Freyer has also been sponsoring TNCA’s women’s challengers (one-day and T20) competitions since 2022.

However, for the post of secretary, the contest is between current Apex Council member U. Bhagwandas Rao and S. Prabhu, with the former the favourite to prevail.

There will be an election for the joint secretary post and assistant secretary posts as well. A.S. Rangarajan and K. Sriram are in the fray for joint secretary, while there are three candidates for the Assistant Secretary post, with Kalidas Vandiyar, C. Mareeswaran and K.S. Srinivasan’s nominations being accepted by the Electoral Officer.

For a place in the nine-member Apex Council, there are nine candidates for six spots (City), while three members to represent the districts will be elected unopposed.

It is to be noted that in 2022, all the current office bearers were elected unopposed after last-minute withdrawals on the day of the AGM.
