Many stars rise and fade, but only a few turn into legends. Today, we are talking about one such singer who captured Bollywood with his magical voice.

The iconic playback singer’s melodious voice defined the sound of Bollywood in the ’90s and continues to live in people’s hearts.

Rising from a small town in Bihar, Udit Narayan built an extraordinary career that inspired millions across India and Nepal.

He made his acting debut in the 1985 Nepali superhit Kusume Rumal, starring alongside Bhuvan KC and Tripti Nadkar. The film proved to be a superhit and it ran for 25 weeks in the country.

With four tracks sung by him and record-breaking box-office success, Udit Narayan gained nationwide fame in Nepal before taking over Bollywood. He was even called ‘Nepal’s Superstar.’

The singer then entered Bollywood and acted in films like Sannata, Bade Dil Wala and Tan Badan.

The iconic song Papa Kehte Hain from Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak made him a household name and earned him his first Filmfare Award.

He delivered timeless hits in Beta, Hero No. 1, Raja Babu, Main Khiladi Tu Anari, Aa Ab Laut Chalen, Taal and many more.

Udit Narayan recently faced criticism after he kissed a female fan during a concert. While performing, his female fans gathered near the stage to take selfies with him. One of his female fans turned around and kissed him on the cheek.

The singer then returned the woman’s gesture by kissing her on her lips, leading to nationwide uproar.

While the singer was facing backlash for his viral kiss controversy, his marriage also became a talking point. Reports claimed that Udit Narayan has been married twice.

Udit’s first wife, Ranjana from Bihar, claimed that he kept their marriage a secret while he struggled to find work in Mumbai.

After moving to Mumbai, he married Deepa Gahatraj, a Nepalese singer and the mother of his son, Aditya Narayan.
