The investigation into the cold-blooded murder of a businessman in south Delhi’s Fatehpur Beri has revealed that the killers had travelled from Faridabad and waited at the spot for nearly 30 minutes before launching the attack. The victim, Ratan, was shot dead when he was heading to his dairy in Aya Nagar on November 30.

Police have confirmed that 69 bullets were found inside Ratan’s body following the attack, highlighting the brutality of the shooting, according to a report in TOI.

According to police sources, 12 to 13 people are suspected of being involved in the brutal killing. Investigators were also examining the possible involvement of a relative of a man who was allegedly murdered by Ratan’s son in May.

Family Recounts Planned Attack

Ratan’s family claimed that more than 70 rounds were fired at him when he was on his way to his dairy in Aya Nagar. “After the May incident, Ratan received regular death threats,” said his brother, Ram Kumar.

Ram Kumar added that the day his brother was killed, he told him that he was going to the dairy and within 10 minutes, he was brutally killed.

Another family member, Dharmender, said the attackers had conducted surveillance before the murder. He stated that the killers arrived in a car and on a motorcycle and kept circling the area while waiting for their target.

Land Dispute Angle Under Probe

The family claims the murder is linked to an ongoing land dispute between two families, which intensified after Ratan’s son, Deepak, allegedly killed a man six months ago. Deepak was later arrested in that case.

A senior police officer said preliminary findings suggest the murder stemmed from personal rivalry, though all possible angles are being investigated.

So far, police have not made any arrests. Further, CCTV footage and other forensic evidence were also being analysed to identify and track down those involved in the premeditated attack.
