A bailable arrest warrant has been issued against Ola Electric Chairman and Managing Director Bhavish Aggarwal after he failed to appear before the District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission in South Goa in connection with a complaint regarding whereabouts of a scooter.
The complaint, filed by Pritesh Chandrakant Ghadi, stated that he had bought Ola S1 Pro Second Gen scooter in August 2023 for Rs 1.47 lakh. The motor of the vehicle, however, started making noises soon after the purchase. The scooter also had problems with its touchscreen.
Ghadi said that he had given his two-wheeler to an Ola Electric dealer in Vasco, Goa, for repairs, but its whereabouts remain unknown even after considerable time has passed.
He had then filed a complaint to Ola but did not receive his bike nor a satisfactory response from the company.
The District Consumer Commission had on January 28 issued a notice asking Ola Electric Mobility Ltd.’s chief executive officer Bhavish Aggarwal to appear on February 4 at 10:30am.
The commission has now reportedly instructed the police to present Bhavish Aggarwal, if arrested, before the commission on February 23 at 10:30 AM. Since it is a bailable warrant, Bhavish can be released on a bond of Rs 1.47 lakh and a surety of the same amount.
According to NDTV, the warrant has been issued under Section 73 of the Indian Civil Service Code 2023 (BNSS 2023), which was previously equivalent to Section 71 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC).
