TGSRTC slashes Metro Deluxe and e-Metro AC fares in Hyderabad from March 1 to May-end, cutting 4 km ticket prices to Rs 25 to boost summer ridership and reduce traffic congestion.
The fare revision is primarily intended to improve the Occupancy Ratio (OR) and minimise operational losses. For instance, the ticket price for a 4-kilometre journey in Metro Deluxe buses has been reduced from Rs 30 to Rs 25. Similarly, in e-Metro AC buses, the fare for the same distance has been slashed from Rs 35 to Rs 25, a notable reduction.Currently, 275 Metro Deluxe buses and 90 electric AC buses operate over 1000 trips daily within the Greater Hyderabad limits. However, RTC authorities have identified that nearly 60 per cent of seats remain unoccupied in these services. The fare reduction is expected to encourage daily commuters, students, and office-goers to shift from two-wheelers and private vehicles to AC buses.Officials also expressed optimism that increased usage of public transport would help ease traffic congestion and reduce pollution levels in the city. A circular has been issued to all depot managers to implement the revised fare structure. With temperatures steadily rising, RTC officials have urged residents to take advantage of the affordable AC bus services for a safer and more comfortable commute.
