Operation Sindoor LIVE: At least 32 airports closed for civilian flights until May 15

Amid escalation of tensions between India and Pakistan, the Airports Authority of India (AAI) and relevant aviation authorities have issued a series of Notices to Airmen (NOTAMs), announcing the temporary closure of 32 airports across northern and western India for all civilian flight operations.
The closure will be effective from “May 9 to May 14 (which corresponds to 05:29 IST on May 15), due to operational reasons,” aviation regulator DGCA said in a release. Early on Saturday Pakistan also announced the closure of its airspace for all traffic till 4 p.m.

On the night of May 8, blackouts were enforced in several districts of Punjab, including Pathankot, Amritsar, Jalandhar, Rupnagar, Fazilka, Ludhiana, Hoshiarpur, and Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, as part of coordinated civil defence protocols.

The Government on Friday (May 9, 2025) said on record that Pakistan has launched 300-400 drones, likely Songar Drones by Asisguard of Turkey, across the western border and a number of them were shot down by Indian air defences.
Urging people not to fall prey to misleading reports, Union Food and Consumer Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi said in New Delhi on Friday (May 9, 2025) that there is no shortage of essential commodities in the country.
