From “Maa ka dodo piya hai toh sane aa” to “Pushpa jhukega nahi saala,” Ed Sheeran aced Bollywood dialogues.

While we have seen top Bollywood actors, singers and cricketers arriving on The Great Indian Kapil Show, the latest episode was nothing like we have ever seen. The guest was international pop star Ed Sheeran and the episode was a hit. Ed delivered a performance of Shape of You with a bhangra twist, aced Bollywood dialogues and interacted with the audience.

For those who haven’t caught the episode yet, Netflix shared a highlight on Instagram. The snippet shows host Kapil Sharma asking Ed Sheeran to try some famous Bollywood dialogues. When Kapil asked, “I have some very popular dialogues from Bollywood movies. Will you try?” Ed eagerly responded with a “Yes.”

He then gave a go at several iconic lines, from “Maa ka dodo piya hai toh sane aa” to “Pushpa jhukega nahi saala.” When it came to Shah Rukh Khan’s “Bade Bade shehron mein choti choti baatein hoti rehti hai” dialogue, Ed Sheeran also did SRK’s signature move and aced it like a pro.

Next, Ed Sheeran recalled an incident from his past where he was confused about choosing his career. The singer mentioned that he originally wanted to be an actor. “I originally wanted to be an actor as well, and I auditioned for this TV show. And it was acting with music. I was, like, sixteen. I got down to the final ten people,” he shared.

The singer also mentioned that he had thought if he got the role, he would quit music. However, if he didn’t end up getting the role, he would quit acting. Eventually, Ed Sheeran quit acting. Did you know Ed Sheeran also appeared in Game of Thrones? Yes, that’s true.

When Kapil Sharma asked him about the job he did before gaining fame, the singer replied, “The only job I had was I worked in a bar, cleaning cutlery. They would bring in all the cutlery from all the people that had eaten. And then, I would wash it, dry it, that was it.”
