India Assured Six More Boxing Medals At CWG 2026, Pugilists Continue Brilliant Run

Indian boxers had a brilliant day out in the ring at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, as they assured the country of five medals in the morning session of the event on Wednesday.
Lovlina Borgohain was guaranteed India’s first boxing medal even before the CWG campaign got underway last week. By the end of Day 6 in Glasgow, three more Indian boxers had joined her in the semifinals.
With five additional medals confirmed on Wednesday, India is now assured of at least nine boxing medals at the Games, with only Jaismine Lamboria’s women’s 57kg quarterfinal yet to be contested.
The day’s medal rush started with Sakshi Chaudhary, who dropped down from the 54kg to the 51kg category and outclassed Northern Ireland’s Caitlin Fryers 5-0 to book her place in the semifinals.
Sakshi controlled the bout from the opening bell, keeping Fryers at bay with sharp jabs and well-timed straight punches while making the most of her height and reach advantage.
The second medal of the day came through Arundhati Choudhary, who had to dig deep to bag a hard-fought 3-1 win against New Zealand’s Morgan Henderson in the women’s 70kg quarterfinal.
Former world youth champion Sachin Siwach also assured himself of at least a bronze medal by storming into the men’s 60kg semifinals. He delivered a composed performance to outclass Botswana’s Treasure Moremi 5-0, sweeping all five judges’ scorecards in a dominant unanimous-decision win.
Minutes later, Ankush Panghal and Narender Berwal joined the medal rush, taking India’s tally of assured boxing medals on Wednesday alone to five. The former dominated Northern Ireland’s Micock in the men’s 80kg quarterfinal, sweeping the opening two rounds on all five judges’ scorecards with sharp movement, relentless pressure and crisp left hooks before sealing a comfortable 5-0 unanimous-decision win.
Heavyweight Narender, meanwhile, had to work much harder against Samoa’s Seko. Despite being penalised for repeated infringements, the former landed the more telling punches, including forcing a standing count in the final round, to clinch a tense 3-2 split-decision win and bag India’s fifth assured boxing medal of the day.
In the final bout of the day, Jaismine, the bronze medalist from Birmingham, beat England’s Elise Glynn 4-1 in a closely contested women’s 57kg quarterfinal.
Both boxers matched each other with similar combinations throughout the contest, but Jaismine’s quick footwork, defensive skills and cleaner punches helped her gain the edge in the rounds.
After a tight opening, Jaismine maintained pressure and sealed the win with a strong final round.
The victory ensured Jaismine at least matches her bronze medal finish from 2022.
