MS Dhoni has made a 103-year-old Chennai Super Kings fan happy after gifting him a signed jersey. Being one of the most successful franchises in the Indian Premier League (IPL) history, CSK enjoy the support of a loyal fanbase in the country. Amongst these supporters, some go beyond definitions. A 1920-born S Ramdas is one such fan who is a massive follower of cricket. Rewarding him for his loyalty to the five-time champions, the legendary Indian skipper wrote a beautiful message on a special 103-numbered jersey before sending it to Ramdas. Upon receiving the signed shirt, a wide smile broke out on the old man’s face who joined his hands together to thank this wonderful gesture. “Thanks Thatha For The Support”, the message on the shirt read.

Last week, the Chennai Super Kings uploaded a video of S Ramdas on YouTube. In the post, the old man said, “I am 103 years old. I am not an old man. I am a senior youth. I like cricket. I watch cricket.” In the video, the superfan’s son gives us an insight into his roots saying that Ramdas was born in Udumalaipettai in Coimbatore. In the same clip, Ramdas was asked if he would like to visit Chepauk and watch Dhoni live. “Take me”, the old man responded quickly. “Whenever he [Dhoni] has time and when he calls we should go. We should go according to his time”, he concluded.

Speaking of Chennai Super Kings’ ongoing IPL 2024 campaign, the reigning champions are not having the best of seasons this year. Just before the tournament began, MS Dhoni relinquished his position as captain. Ruturaj Gaikwad was named as his successor. They were able to beat the Royal Challengers Bengaluru in their first game of the competition, winning the match by six wickets. In their previous game, CSK conceded a heartbreaking loss to a Sam Curran-led Punjab Kings on May 1. The five-time winners ended up losing that game by seven wickets.

The Chennai Super Kings are currently placed fifth on the IPL 2024 points table with five wins and as many losses. They will now be looking to avenge their defeat against the Punjab Kings as they take on the 2014 finalists once again this weekend. The match will be hosted at the HPCA Stadium on May 5.
