New Zealand star Rachin Ravindra, who is part of Kolkata Knight Riders’ IPL 2026 squad, has left the Kolkata-based franchise ahead of their remaining three league matches. In a video shared by KKR from its official X handle on Friday (May 15), Rachin can be seen meeting his teammates before flying to New Zealand.
As per the official information shared by the franchise in the caption of the video post, they stated that Rachin is heading home to prepare for national duty.
“Best wishes from the Knights as Rachin heads home to prepare for national duty,” KKR captioned the video.
New Zealand are set to face England in a three-match Test series next month. The series opener is scheduled to take place at Lord’s in London from June 4 to 8, and the next two red-ball matches will be played at The Oval (June 17-21) and Trent Bridge (June 25-29).
Rachin, who has previously played in the IPL for Chennai Super Kings, is part of New Zealand’s Test squad, which will be led by Tom Latham. Even though Rachin didn’t get a chance to play even one match for KKR in the ongoing season of the IPL, he is a key member of New Zealand’s Test team and is a sure-shot starter for the Black Caps against England in the first Test at Lord’s.
Since making his Test debut against India at Green Park in Kanpur on November 25, 2021, Rachin has played 20 matches so far for the Kiwis and scored 1526 runs. He also has accounted for the dismissal of 11 batters in the five-day format of the game.
In Tests, Rachin bats at No. 3 for New Zealand, and there will be high expectations from him in the upcoming tour of England.
