Coldplay’s India tour concluded with grand shows in Ahmedabad. Shashi Tharoor has extended an invitation to the British rock band to conduct its shows in Kerala in future.
Describing Coldplay’s recently-concluded India tour as “absolutely phenomenal”, Congress MP Shashi Tharoor invited the British rock band to perform in his home state Kerala in the future.
He also endorsed Chris Martin’s shoutout to Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah whom the singer called “the best bowler in cricket”.
“Touched to see our very own Jasprit Bumrah get a shoutout from Chris Martin. What’s more, I agree! Coldplay’s five-day run in India at Mumbai and Ahmedabad has been absolutely phenomenal. Hoping Kerala gets its chance to host these grand-scale shows too! With our beauty, unmatched hospitality, and that special vibe, we’d be the perfect hosts. See you in God’s Own Country sometime soon, Coldplay,” Tharoor posted on X.
Coldplay Concerts In India
Coldplay’s ‘Music of the Spheres’ tour in India ended as the weekend shows were sold out in Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium. The jam-packed stadium gave the vibe and experience of a lifetime to the crowd that gathered in the mammoth stadium.
Over 1 lakh fans gathered at the stadium to participate in the band’s largest-ever show in India. The fans termed the Ahmedabad shows far superior in scale to the previous shows in Mumbai.
The band started its India tour with back-to-back concerts at DY Patil Sports Stadium in Navi Mumbai on January 18 and 19, followed by another show on January 21. Although tickets sold out in minutes, some fans were disappointed, saying the Mumbai shows didn’t meet Coldplay’s usual high standards.
Ahmedabad, on the other hand, was a completely different experience. The stadium was packed, and fans sang along to the band’s biggest hits. The excitement hit a high point when Indian cricketer Jasprit Bumrah made a surprise appearance. Coldplay’s lead singer, Chris Martin, gave a special shoutout to Bumrah, which thrilled the crowd even more.
The Ahmedabad show coincided with India’s Republic Day, Coldplay also played piano renditions of ‘Vande Mataram’ and ‘Maa Tujhe Salaam’.
