Shreya Ghoshal has revealed that her husband Shiladitya Mukhopadhyaya takes an equal role in running their home, even when the singer is away for months because of work. In a recent conversation, Shreya said she feels “lucky” to have a partner who does not expect her to handle household responsibilities alone.
Shreya Ghoshal says husband Shiladitya does his own chores
Speaking on The Male Feminist Podcast, Shreya Ghoshal was asked about how she and Shiladitya share responsibilities at home. The singer said her husband is comfortable taking care of the house himself and does not expect her to do his chores.
“I got lucky, I got this guy. He takes care of the whole house. He does not even… because he loves to live on his own terms, he will wash his own dishes, he will do kitchen cleaning. And he will be upset if I do it.”
Shreya also explained that their demanding careers mean they often have to divide household work between them. She said neither of them expects the other to always be available at home.
“We both have worked rigorous hours the whole day, so we both are always doing our chores together. He has never demanded that why you are not here? I am not there for months sometimes. Since we were dating, he was that secure. He knew that she will be there for me. He does not have ego hassles and neither am I. So both of us are very similar that way. Our parents discuss everything and we have become very quiet, and our child is the centre our universe.”
Who is Shiladitya Mukhopadhyaya, Shreya Ghoshal’s husband?
Shiladitya Mukhopadhyaya has largely stayed away from the public spotlight despite being married to one of India’s biggest playback singers. He and Shreya have known each other since childhood and have been friends for almost three decades.
According to reports, their relationship began around the time Shreya started her professional singing career. Shiladitya was also building his career in the technology industry during that period.
The couple dated for around 10 years before getting married in 2015. Shreya and Shiladitya tied the knot in a traditional Bengali ceremony on February 5 that year.
Six years later, the couple welcomed their first child, a son named Devyaan, in 2021. Shreya has largely kept her family life private while continuing her busy career as a playback singer.
