With just over a month left for the much-awaited Ganesh Chaturthi, festive spirit has already started taking over Mumbai. Amid the beginning of celebrations for the festive season ahead, a moment from the grand arrival procession of Parel Cha Vighnaharta 2026 has taken social media by storm: a group of young women was seen forming a human pyramid for Dahi Handi.
The grand Aagman Sohala of Parel Cha Vighnaharta was held on Sunday, August 9, at the Parel Workshop gates. The procession saw thousands of devotees gather to welcome the popular Ganesh idol, with flags, traditional music, chants of “Ganpati Bappa Morya” and great enthusiasm.
Amid the celebrations, a group of girls completely stole the spotlight by forming a human pyramid around a Dahi Handi. While onlookers captured the moment on camera, the girls carefully climbed on top of one another and balanced themselves on each other’s shoulders, forming a human pyramid.
A little girl on top of the formation was seen making gestures with her hand towards Bappa before she came down. All of them paid their tributes to Bappa before climbing down.
The video of the human pyramid formation was shared on Instagram, with “The collaboration every Mumbaikar waited for (Dahi Handi X Ganeshotsav)” written over it.
“Hamari Chori Kya Choro Se Kam Hai”
Their performance has since gone viral on the platform, with people reacting to the human pyramid formation in amazement.
“Humari chori kya choro se kam hai,” said a user while quoting a dialogue from Aamir Khan’s movie Dangal.
“Goosebumps,” remarked another person.
“It’s an emotion,” commented an individual.
Someone else said, “Those frames feel so good jaha stick wale nhi hote hai.”
The viral moment comes just weeks before Ganesh Chaturthi 2026, which will be celebrated across the country on September 14. The 10-day festival will see devotees bring home Lord Ganesha idols and participate in elaborate celebrations before bidding emotional farewell to Bappa and waiting for another year in anticipation.
Every year, the festival is marked by devotees turning up in the streets in colourful new clothes to seek blessings at different temples. The Ganeshotsav celebrations in Mumbai are known all around the world for large groups playing dhol and tasha on the streets to welcome Bappa home.
