Who Was Suneil Anand? 10 Things To Remember As Dev Anand’s Son Passes Away
Suneil Anand, son of legendary actor-filmmaker Dev Anand and actress Kalpana Kartik, has passed away at the age of 70. He breathed his last in London on July 26, 2026, reportedly after suffering a heart attack. His niece Gina Narang confirmed the news and requested privacy for the family during the difficult time.

Announcing his death, Gina Narang said, “With heavy hearts, our family mourns the passing of Suneil Anand. We are comforted by the outpouring of love, prayers, and support, for which we are truly grateful. We kindly request privacy as we navigate this difficult time together.”

Born in Zurich in 1956, Suneil grew up in one of Hindi cinema’s most celebrated families. He was the only son of Dev Anand and Kalpana Kartik, who worked together in several films before marrying. After growing up, Suneil followed his father into the film industry. However, he never achieved the same level of stardom.

Suneil made his acting debut in 1984 with Anand Aur Anand, a film that also featured his father Dev Anand. He subsequently appeared in films including Car Thief and Main Tere Liye. However, his acting career remained relatively brief, and he gradually moved away from mainstream Bollywood.

His last major acting appearance came in Master, a 2001 martial arts film that also marked his directorial debut. Suneil had trained in Wing Tsun martial arts in Hong Kong and brought his interest in the discipline to the film.

Away from acting, Suneil remained associated with his father’s production banner, Navketan Films. He became involved in managing the company and preserving the legacy of the filmmaking institution founded by Dev Anand and his brothers.

Suneil later continued exploring filmmaking, including work connected to the Hollywood project Vagator Mixer. Despite being born into one of Bollywood’s most famous families, he largely maintained a low profile and stayed away from the constant media attention surrounding the film industry.

During Dev Anand’s birth centenary in 2023, Suneil had spoken about spending much of his life working with and caring for his father. “I even coordinated taking our classic movie Guide to the Cannes Film Festival in 2008. It was the first Indian classic to be selected by the Cannes committee to be showcased at the festival. It was a major milestone for dad, for us, Navketan and India,” he had said, as quoted by NDTV.

Suneil had also revealed that he was working on a film dedicated to his father. Speaking about the project, he had said, “It’s a huge movie dedicated to my father. I am producing and directing. The show goes on. I will continue to take my father’s legacy forward.”

Dev Anand died in London in December 2011 at the age of 88. His death marked the end of an extraordinary career spanning several decades. Nearly 15 years later, the loss of his son Suneil brings another chapter of the Anand family’s cinematic legacy to a close.
