Kahaani 3 To Feature Yami Gautam Instead Of Vidya Balan?
It’s hard to think of Kahaani without instantly picturing Vidya Balan walking through the streets of Kolkata in search of her missing husband. Some characters become so iconic that it’s impossible to imagine anyone else playing them. However, if a new report is to be believed, the franchise could have a new leading lady in place of Vidya.
According to a report by Pinkvilla, Kahaani 3 makers are eyeing Yami Gautam to replace Vidya Balan.
A source told the entertainment news portal, “Kahaani 3 is a new story altogether. The idea is to take the franchise forward while retaining the essence of the world that audiences have loved. Yami Gautam is coming on board as the lead, and the character has a very strong arc. The film is still in the pre-production stage, and the team is working on the timelines for the shoot.”
The source further claimed that Sujoy Ghosh has a clear vision for the film and is working closely with his team to ensure Kahaani 3 brings something new while staying true to the essence of the franchise.
Kahaani, that released in 2012, was co-written, co-produced and directed by Sujoy Ghosh and starred Vidya Balan in the lead role. It went on to become a super hit at the box office. The film starred Vidya Balan as Vidya Bagchi, a pregnant woman looking for her missing husband in Kolkata during the festival of Durga Puja. She is assisted by Assist Sub-Inspector Satyoki “Rana” Sinha (Parambrata Chatterjee) and Inspector General A. Khan (Nawazuddin Siddiqui).
Later, the makers released a sequel to the film titled Kahaani 2 in 2016. However, it turned out to be a flop.
Now, Sujoy will be back to direct Kahaani 3 as well. The source by Pinkvilla added, “There is a lot of excitement around the collaboration with Yami, and the makers are currently figuring out the shoot schedule.”
