Yatin Laygude Talks About His Book “The Girl in Cottage No.9”

Yatin is the author of three best-selling mystery books, and ‘The Girl in Cottage No.9,’ is currently the fourth one in the series. He graduated as a mechanical engineer, pursued his hobby of writing by being a full-time content writer for an MNC, and spent his free office hours writing the next story that inspired him. All his books revolve around mystery with a tinge of romance and laughter, making his books fun to read and unputdownable. Q: What Inspired You To Write This Book?

A:When friends come together, they always plan for a road trip for thrill and adventure. I imagined a scenario when so many things can go wrong on a road trip and that is what inspired me to write this story.

Q: Can You Tell Us About The Book?

A: It is about four UPSC aspirants who are fed up of their boring lectures and hostel life and who plan to bunk their lectures and go on a road trip. And during that trip a girl asks them for a lift in the middle of the night but then she disappears. The boys knew her address and go searching for her at cottage no.9 but as soon as they did, they knew that they should had.

Q: What Does The Title Mean?

A:The girl and the cottage no.9 is around which the story revolves and is the main plot in the book.

Q: What Did You Learn When Writing The Book?

A: I learnt that you can start writing a book even if you do not have a definite plot. Let your imagine turn wild and explore all that we can add to the story to make it more interesting.

Q: What Do You Think Happened To The Characters After The Book Ended?

A:The characters carried on with their life with a promise that they would plan a road trip sometime later again.

Q: How Long Does It Take You To Write A Book?

A: It took around six months for me to write this book.

Q: When Did You Write Your First Book And How Old Were You?

A:I started writing my first book in April 2022 and published it in April 2023. I was 30 years old.

QHow Many Books Have You Written? Which Is Your Favourite?

A:I have written four books till now including this one and all of my book are my favorites as it gave me equal joy to write all of them.

Q:Do You Have Any Suggestions To Help Others To Become A Better Writer? If So, What Are They?

A:Write regularly. Make writing a habit and try to write at least few hundred words everyday. And also read the genre you want to write in.

Q: Do You Try More To Be Original Or To Deliver To Readers What They Want?

A: I write what I feel passionate about. My topics are mostly taken from real life incidents so that people will feel connected to them. So I am sure they will enjoy reading them.

Q: What, In Your Opinion, Are The Most Important Elements Of Good Writing?

A: People should feel the vibe that you want to share when they read your book.

Q: What Does Success Mean To You? What Is The Definition Of Success?

A:Success is when you feel that you have finally achieved your dream.

Q: Tell Us About Your First Published Book? What Was The Journey Like?

A: My first published book was the most amazing one. The roller coaster of feelings during the publishing process was something that I will never forget. To complete writing the first book was a challenge that looked impossible one time but now I know it is achievable and anyone who likes writing can achieve.

Q: Do You Believe A Book Cover Plays An Important Role In The Selling Process?

A: Readers definitely choose a book by its cover. At least when it comes to picking up a book. A good cover is important to catch the eye of the reader.
