BAREILLY: A 17-year-old girl lost both her legs and left arm after her stalker, 19, allegedly pushed her in front of a moving train in Bareilly while she was returning from NEET coaching on Tuesday. She is currently undergoing treatment in a private hospital here and her condition is critical, said police.
Dr OP Bhaskar, who had initially treated the girl, said, “She was brought to hospital with both legs amputated below the knee. She also lost a hand in the incident and had multiple fractures. Due to excessive blood loss, we had to give her six units of blood. Her condition is extremely critical.” After CM Yogi Adityanath took cognizance of the incident, three police personnel, including the SHO, have been suspended for negligence. After getting information about the incident, district magistrate (Bareilly) Ravindra Kumar and SSP Sushil Chandrabhan Ghule rushed to the hospital to meet the girl on Wednesday morning.
The DM said, “The victim’s parents will be given an immediate compensation of Rs 5 lakh on the instructions of the CM. We have shifted the girl to a higher medical centre and the government will bear the cost of her treatment. Cops are investigating the case and strict action will be taken against the accused.” The SSP said, “We have suspended SHO Ashok Kumar Kamboj, local outpost in-charge Nitesh Kumar Sharma and constable Akash Deep for negligence. An FIR has been registered against the accused, Vijay Maurya, under IPC sections 354 (attempting to outrage the modesty of a woman), 307 (attempt to murder), 504 (intentional insult), 342 (wrongful confinement) and 326 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapons), along with the Pocso Act. He is in our custody.” The girl’s father said, “Vijay was troubling my daughter for the past few days. On Tuesday, when she was on her way back home, he forcefully stopped her. When she resisted, he pushed her in front of a train. A few hours later, we found her near the Khadau railway crossing.”
