NEW DELHI: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Saturday mocked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and accused him of misleading the youth about their own situation, stating “naani ko nanihaal ka haal suna rahe hai (narrating to the grandmother the condition of grandmother’s house).
Rahul’s reaction came hours after the PM attacked the Congress leader for his recent ‘drunk UP youth’ remark.
During a rally in Varanasi, PM Modi had said: “The youth of Kashi and of Uttar Pradesh are working hard to make it a developed state. Today when UP is changing, the youth of the state are busy writing their bright future, these dynasts are maligning them. The Yuvraj of Congress says the youth of Kashi, the youth of UP are alcoholics. What kind of language is this? They (opposition parties) spent two decades abusing Modi and now they are venting their frustration on devotees of God and the youth of UP.”
In typical Banarasi style, the PM added: “Those who are not in ‘hosh’ (senses) themselves are calling the youth ‘nashedi’.”
In reaction, Rahul posted a video of a youth protest demanding re-examination and said PM Modi is misleading the youth of Uttar Pradesh about their own situation.

The Congress leader then retorted in similar Banarasi style: “Modi ji naani ko nanihaal ka haal suna rahe hai.”
“There are protests against paper leak everywhere in Uttar Pradesh — from Lucknow to Prayagraj. PM Modi is only 100 km away from there in Varanasi and is misleading the youth in the name of the youth only,” Rahul tweeted.
During his “Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra”, Rahul Gandhi had recently said: “I went to Varanasi and I saw people lying drunk on roads. The future of Uttar Pradesh was drunk and dancing on the roads during the night. On the other hand, there is the Ram Mandir where you will see the likes of PM Modi, Ambani, Adani. You will see India’s billionaires there but not a single person from a backward class or the dalit community.”
