Ex-Isro chief, IIT director & more: Who is on Nandan Nilekani-led NTA exam reforms panel

NEW DELHI: The Centre has constituted a high-powered task force to recommend comprehensive reforms for examinations conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA), with a focus on strengthening technology, improving logistics and introducing structural changes to the examination system.The multidisciplinary panel will be headed by technology expert Nandan Nilekani and comprises experts from education, science, security and administration. Other members include former ISRO chairman S Somanath, former Intelligence Bureau director Tapan Deka, IIT Madras director V Kamakoti, former education secretary Anita Karwal, and logistics expert Amrit Lal Meena.The task force has been mandated to examine ways to make NTA examinations more transparent, secure and technology-driven.

It will recommend reforms to improve the overall examination process, strengthen cybersecurity, enhance logistical planning and restore public confidence in competitive examinations.The panel was announced as part of the Centre’s broader efforts to overhaul the examination system following controversies over alleged paper leaks and examination irregularities. Its recommendations are expected to form the basis for future reforms in the conduct of national-level entrance examinations.
