Bollywood star Ranveer Singh has come under fire for leaving his pregnant wife Deepika Padukone‘s side to attend the pre-wedding cruise party of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant.
The event, held on a luxurious cruise ship, was a star-studded affair featuring performances from international pop stars like Katy Perry and Backstreet Boys.
As photos of Singh’s photos with the many guests at the exclusive cruise party spread, fans and social media users voiced their disappointment and concern.Many criticized the actor for leaving Padukone’s side, to attend the high-profile celebration.
Deepika’s dinner date with mom Ujjala last evening only fuelled the outrage with fans advising the actor to ‘prioritize’ his family over parties. “It’s just weird to go partying knowing you have a pregnant wife back at home,” commented one user on Twitter, echoing the sentiments of many others. Another wrote, “Leaving your pregnant wife alone for a party?”

Others defended the star, saying that his presence at the party was “more of a work commitment than anything else.”
Another defended Singh, saying, “Deepika is not alone and neither did Ranveer leave her on her own, her mom is with her.”
“I think they would appreciate for us not to give them our unwanted advice,” said another while arguing that the actor would not have left if Deepika didn’t want him to.

The couple, who wed in 2018, is expecting their first child together. According to the actress’ post, the baby is expected to arrive in September.

Prior to the cruise party, Deepika and Ranveer made a joint appearance at Anant and Radhika’s pre-wedding bash held in May. The couple took over the stage and put up a joint performance for the high profile guest list.
The pre-wedding festivities for Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant have drawn numerous celebrities and dignitaries. Last evening, Katy Perry took over the big stage to perform her hit singles including Fireworks.

Meanwhile, for Anant and Radhika, the celebrations will continue till July 12 when the couple ties the knot. According to reports, the wedding ceremonies will commence with the auspicious Shubh Vivah and will continue on July 13 with Shubh Aashirwad. The final event, Mangal Utsav or the wedding reception, is scheduled for July 14.
