India’s archery team begins Paris Olympics campaign today | Paris Olympics 2024 News – Times of India
The ranking rounds are crucial for India’s archery prospects.Performances over 72 arrows by each of the six archers will determine seedings for both individual and team events.
The men’s and women’s team competitions will see the top four seeded teams earning direct quarterfinal qualifications, while teams seeded between eighth and 12th will compete for quarterfinal spots. The ranking will also decide entries for the mixed team competition, where only the top 16 pairs will qualify for the next stage. Each country’s seeding in the mixed team event will be based on the combined top scores from one male and one female archer.
It is Deepika Kumari’s fourth Olympic appearance and her first since becoming a mother, the ANI report mentioned. Similarly, Tarundeep Rai is also making his fourth Olympic appearance. Pravin Jadhav, who competed in Tokyo 2020, is back for his second Olympics. The team also features three Olympic debutants: Dhiraj Bommadevara, Bhajan Kaur, and Ankita Bhakat.
Despite their rich history and numerous international accolades, Indian archers have yet to win an Olympic medal.
The archery competition at Paris 2024 will commence with the individual ranking rounds on July 25, a day before the Opening Ceremony, and continue with the subsequent stages from July 28 to August 4 at Les Invalides.
