Kevin de Bruyne has been battling injuries recently and has requested time-off from national duty.

Al-Nassr superstar Cristiano Ronaldo reportedly wants his club to bring in Manchester City’s Kevin de Bruyne to Saudi Pro League. As per several media reports, Ronaldo considers the Belgian as key to Al-Nassr’s hopes of marching ahead of their close rivals Al-Hilal.

De Bruyne has himself earlier this year has left his options wide open with his contract with Manchester City expiring in 2025. Injuries have plagued the midfielder in recently and he managed just 18 appearances in the last Premier League season.

Currently, he’s recovering from a thigh injury he picked up during Champions League showdown with AC Milan last month and is expected to make his competitive return by mid-October.

The 33-year-old isn’t averse to plying his trade in Saudi Pro League where he could reportedly earn as much as a million dollars per week.

“For Michele (De Bruyne’s wife), an exotic adventure is okay. These are also conversations that we are increasingly having as a family. I still have one year left on my contract, so I have to think about what could happen. My eldest is now eight years old and knows nothing but England. He also asks how long I will play for City. Once the moment comes, we will have to deal with it in a certain way,” the playmaker told Belgian publication HLN.

“At my age you have to be open to everything. You’re talking about incredible amounts of money in what may be the end of my career. Sometimes you have to think about that. If I play there for two years, I will be able to earn an incredible amount of money. Before that, I had to play football for 15 years. I may not even reach that amount yet. Then you have to think about what that could mean next. But at the moment I haven’t had to think about that yet,” he added.

Belgium manager Domenico Tedesco recently revealed that De Bruyne has asked for some time off from national duty and therefore will miss the team’s Nations League fixtures against Italy and France.

“I had a long phone conversation with Kevin,” said Tedesco. “He has asked to skip this camp and also November, to be able to take care of his body. The schedule has become even busier due to the World Cup for clubs. That is why he is not there now and in November. But when it really counts – the World Cup – he will be there.”

“He has an injury, but he is very motivated to continue with the Red Devils and to play the World Cup in 2026,” he added.
