Loveyapa box office collection Day 1: Junaid Khan and Khushi Kapoor starrer has a Rs 1.25 crore debut
Junaid Khan and Khushi Kapoor’s much-anticipated debut film, Loveyapa, hit theatres on February 7, and its opening-day box office collections are here!
The rom-com that marked a first theatrical release for both young talents, earned approximately Rs 1.25 crore, according to early estimates from Sacnilk.com. Despite a slow start in the morning shows, the film witnessed an upward trend in footfalls by evening and night screenings.
Loveyapa, directed by Advait Chandan, did not have a solo release and faced stiff competition from other films, including Badass Ravikumar, which also debuted on the same day. Additionally, it contended with holdover releases like Sky Force and Deva, which earned approximately Rs 85 lakh and Rs 80 lakh, respectively. Despite this, Loveyapa managed to outperform both older films, indicating a promising start.
The movie has been making headlines in the entertainment industry, particularly due to the star power behind it. Junaid, son of Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan, and Khushi Kapoor, daughter of the late legendary actress Sridevi, have garnered significant attention for their debut performances. Ahead of the theatrical release, Loveyapa created buzz with its star-studded screening in Mumbai on Wednesday. The event saw the presence of Bollywood icons, including Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan, adding to the film’s pre-release hype.
Actors like Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt also lent their support to the film.
While this is a first theatrical release for both actors, they made their film debut on OTT. Junaid made his debut last year in the film Maharaj which had a digital release. Khushi, on the other hand, played a leading role in Zoya Akhtar’s The Archies which premiered in 2023 on OTT.
While Loveyapa’s opening figures are modest, according to trade experts, the film’s growth in evening and night shows indicates positive word-of-mouth and could set it up for a good weekend collection. The coming days will determine whether it can sustain momentum and achieve a strong first-week collection at the box office.
The film has a week to perform, before it faces stiff competition from movies like Marvel’s Captain America: Brave New World and Vicky Kaushali’s historical drama Chhaava. Both films release over the Valentines Day weekend.
