Days after skipping the Shiv Sena (UBT)’s parliamentary party meeting and fuelling rebellion buzz, MP Omraje Nimbalkar on Sunday made his move. The Dharashiv MP announced that he would join the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena, saying a decision had been taken after consultations with supporters and local party workers.
“We have decided to join Shiv Sena and will work under the leadership of Eknath Shinde,” Nimbalkar said, dealing a fresh blow to Uddhav Thackeray’s camp.
This comes after he held discussions with his supporters in his constituency to finalise his political course.
After the meeting, PTI quoted one of the supporters saying Nimbalkar should join the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena, as the Sena (UBT) doesn’t treat him with respect.
“Swear words were used against our leader earlier. He will definitely be valued in the Shinde Sena because he is working for the people round-the-clock,” he told reporters while referring to party leader, Sanjay Raut.
He further claimed that Uddhav Thackeray did nothing for the workers of the Sena (UBT) in the recent local body elections. “Our party workers were defeated. They have incurred debt due to poll spending.”
On Friday, the Dharashiv MP said he would decide whether to leave Shiv Sena (UBT) after speaking to people in his constituency. His statement came after a Mumbai sessions court acquitted all the accused in the murder case of his father, Pawanraje Nimbalkar.
