NEW DELHI: Mumbai Indians (MI) opener Rohit Sharma reached a significant milestone during his short stay at the crease against Gujarat Titans (GT) in their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 clash at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Saturday.
Although Rohit was dismissed for 8 off 4 balls by GT pacer Mohammed Siraj in the first over of MI’s chase, he managed to etch his name in IPL history.

The two consecutive fours he struck before his dismissal took his tally to 601 fours in the IPL, making him only the fourth batter to achieve this feat.

The list of most fours in IPL history is led by Shikhar Dhawan, who has 768 fours in 222 matches. Virat Kohli follows with 711 fours in 254 matches, while David Warner is third with 663 fours in 184 matches. Rohit, now fourth, surpassed the 600-fours mark in his 259th match. Former CSK star Suresh Raina rounds off the top five with 506 fours in 205 matches.
Most fours in IPL

  • Shikhar Dawan – 768
  • Virat Kohli – 711
  • David Warner – 663
  • Rohit Sharma – 601*
  • Suresh Raina – 506

  • Ajinkya Rahane – 485

Despite Rohit’s milestone, Siraj stole the spotlight, dismissing him for the first time in IPL history after 10 previous unsuccessful attempts. The GT pacer bowled a sensational length delivery that nipped back in, breached Rohit’s defence, and clipped the top of the off-stump bail, marking a memorable moment in the game.
