Ace India batter Virat Kohli on Monday gave a heartfelt shoutout to Bollywood director Aditya Dhar and actor Ranveer Singh for their work in Dhurandhar 2, saying that he did not flinch once for the entire duration of the movie, lauding the duo.
Dhurandhar The Revenge, starring Ranveer, has stormed the global box office, raking in Rs 1,500 crore worldwide within just two weeks of its release, the makers announced on Thursday.
Directed by Aditya Dhar and backed by Jio Studios along with B62 Studios, the film has grossed Rs 1,501 crore worldwide, becoming the highest-grossing Indian film of all time in just 15 days of its release.
“Saw the film today and dare I say that I’ve never ever seen a cinematic experience like this made in India. It brought out every kind of emotion to the surface and I didn’t flinch once for almost four hours,” Kohli wrote on his Instagram story on Monday night.
The film has shattered several box office records, including the biggest Hindi opening of all time, the highest first- and second-week collections, the largest opening weekend worldwide and the fastest run to the Rs 1,000 crore mark.
Overseas, the film has raked in Rs 367 crore in just two weeks, emerging as the highest-grossing Indian film in North America and the biggest Indian film ever in overseas markets within its opening week.
It also went past the overseas lifetime collection of ‘Dhurandhar’, the first instalment of the franchise, in just 10 days.
At the domestic box office, the film has grossed Rs 1,134 crore, with its net (post-tax) collection standing at Rs 961 crore, putting it within touching distance of the Rs 1,000 crore nett milestone, a feat achieved by only a select few Hindi films such as Dangal.
Meanwhile, Kohli was seen in action against the Chennai Super Kings on Sunday, April 7. Although he couldn’t play a big innings, Royal Challengers Bengaluru cruised to a 43-run win.
RCB will next play the Rajasthan Royals on Friday in Guwahati.
