Assam Cabinet Announced: Check Ministers Who Will Take Oath On Tuesday

Assam Chief Minister-designate Himanta Biswa Sarma will take the oath, along with four ministers, on Tuesday in the presence of PM Modi.

Assam Chief Minister-designate Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday announced the names of four cabinet ministers and the Speaker of the Assam Legislative Assembly who will be sworn in on Tuesday.

“Happy to announce that four colleagues of mine will take oath as Ministers tomorrow, along with me, in the august presence of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi Ji,” he said.

The four candidates announced by Sarma were:

  • Rameswar Teli
  • Atul Bora
  • Charan Boro
  • Ajanta Neog

Sarma also named BJP MLA and outgoing minister Ranjit Kumar Das as the party’s candidate for the post of Speaker of the Assam Legislative Assembly.

Who Are Himanta Sarma’s Ministers?

Rameswar Teli is the BJP MLA from Duliajan Assembly seat, where he defeated Congress’s Dhruba Gogoi by over 10,000 votes. He served as the party’s MP from Assam’s Dibrugarh seat and was appointed as a Minister of State in the second Modi ministry.

Atul Bora, the president of Asom Gana Parishad (AGP), has been representing the Bokakhat assembly constituency. He defeated Raijor Dal’s Hari Prasad Saikia by 60,537 votes in the recent election. Bora served as the Minister for Border Protection and Development in the last cabinet.

Charan Boro is the Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) MLA from Mazbat constituency, where he defeated JMM candidate Priti Rekha Barla by over 55,000 votes.

Ajanta Neog, who has represented the Golaghat constituency for five terms, is Assam’s first female finance minister. She defeated Congress’s Bitupan Saikia by over 9,000 votes in 2026.

BJP’s Ranjit Kumar Das served as the Ministry of Panchayat and Rural Development, Food and Civil Supplies, and Consumer Affairs in the last cabinet. He represented the Sorbhog seat from 2011 to 2021, and Patacharkuchi in 2021. He won the Bhawanipur-sorbhog seat in 2026.

Assam Oath Ceremony

Himanta Biswa Sarma will take the oath as the Chief Minister of Assam for the second time on May 12 after being elected as the leader of the BJP Legislature Party and the NDA Legislature Party. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the ceremony as the chief guest.

The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has secured a third consecutive term in Assam after winning 102 seats in the 126-member Assembly. The BJP emerged as the largest party with 82 seats, while its allies, the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) and the Bodoland People’s Front (BPF), won 10 seats each.
