Yami Gautam wins Best Actress for Article 370, Kartik Aaryan Best Actor for Chandu Champion at 72nd National Film Awards.

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting on Saturday announced the winners of the 72nd National Film Awards, with Yami Gautam winning the Best Actress award for Article 370 and Kartik Aaryan and Mammootty sharing the Best Actor honour for their films Chandu Champion and Bramayugam, respectively.

The winners were announced at the National Media Centre in New Delhi, with the event streamed live on PIB India’s YouTube channel. The National Film Awards are considered India’s highest honour for excellence in cinema.
The awards recognise outstanding achievements in feature and non-feature films, writing on cinema, as well as categories such as acting, direction, screenplay, music, cinematography, editing and other technical disciplines. This year’s honours were awarded to films certified by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) between January 1 and December 31, 2024. The winners were selected by an 11-member jury headed by acclaimed filmmaker Jayaraj.

Among the other winners, Rajkumar Periasamy was named Best Director, Kalki 2898 AD won Best Feature Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment, Srikanth was adjudged Best Hindi Film, and Captain Miller received the award for Best Film Promoting National and Social Values. Check Winners List Below

- Best Music Direction for Songs: Shashwat Sachdev, Article 370
- Best Background Music: GV Prakash, Amaran

The year 2024 witnessed a string of critically acclaimed and commercially successful films across languages. Globally celebrated titles such as All We Imagine As Light and Laapataa Ladies shone a spotlight on Indian cinema, while films like Pushpa 2: The Rule, Stree 2, Hanu Man, Manjummel Boys and Premalu dominated the box office.
