Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray on Wednesday broke his silence after being named in the Central Bureau of Investigation’s (CBI) FIR in Disha Salian’s death case, stating that he had “never met or known” her and that linking his name with the case was a “deliberate, evidence-free attempt at character assassination.”
In a post on X, Aaditya, who is Worli MLA and son of former Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, accused unnamed individuals of attempting to tarnish his reputation.
“Let’s cut through the noise and talk facts, once again: I have never met or known Disha Salian. Linking my name to this tragic case constantly is a deliberate, evidence-free attempt at character assassination by a few individuals with clear political and personal motives, for almost 6 years,” he tweeted.
‘Relentless Smear Campaign Run By Vested Interests’: Thackeray On CBI FIR
He alleged that the move to link him with the death of the celebrity manager was driven by “political and personal motives.” He also criticised what he described as media trials and called for the official investigation to proceed without “malicious distractions.”
“The relentless smear campaign run by vested interests without a single shred of evidence and truth is highly unfortunate. Loud TV debates and media trials do not change the facts. Let the official re-investigation proceed without malicious distractions and character assassination for political motives,” he further wrote.
The CBI registered an FIR in the case following a Bombay High Court order directing a fresh investigation. While several prominent names, including Thackeray, actors Dino Morea, and Rhea Chakraborty, appear in the FIR and are to be examined as part of the probe, the agency has said that no person has been named as an accused at this stage.
What Is The Disha Salian Case?
Disha Salian, who worked as actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s manager, died on June 8, 2020, after falling from a residential building in Mumbai. Her death came shortly before Rajput’s death on June 14, 2020, leading to public speculation about a possible connection between the two cases.
Salian’s father, Satish Salian, later approached the Bombay High Court, alleging lapses in the original investigation and seeking a fresh probe. The court subsequently directed the CBI to investigate the circumstances surrounding her death. The CBI registered its FIR on September 13 based on the allegations placed before it.
