The Jio IPO will be the country’s biggest IPO ever, surpassing Hyundai Motor India’s Rs 27,859-crore public market debut in October 2024.

Jio Platforms IPO plans to issue up to 27 crore fresh equity shares, equivalent to around 2.9 per cent of its post-issue equity capital, according to its draft prospectus.

Jio Platforms IPO plans to issue up to 27 crore fresh equity shares, equivalent to around 2.9 per cent of its post-issue equity capital, according to its draft prospectus.

Jio Platforms IPO: Jio Platforms Ltd, the digital services arm of Reliance Industries Ltd, has received approval from the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) to proceed with its initial public offering (IPO), clearing a key regulatory hurdle for what is expected to become India’s biggest-ever public issue.

Sebi issued its final observations on the company’s draft IPO papers on August 28, 2026. Reliance Industries confirmed the development in a regulatory filing, saying Jio Platforms had received the observation letter for its Draft Red Herring Prospectus (DRHP).

The IPO could raise around $3.8 billion (about Rs 37,700 crore) and value Jio Platforms at approximately $137 billion, according to a PTI report citing people familiar with the matter. If completed at the proposed size, it would overtake Hyundai Motor India’s Rs 27,859-crore IPO launched in 2024 to become India’s largest IPO.

Here is everything you need to know about the Jio Platforms IPO.

Jio IPO Opening Date

The Jio Platforms IPO opening date has not been announced yet. The receipt of Sebi’s final observations clears the regulatory hurdle, but the company is yet to announce the IPO’s launch date, bidding period and listing date.

Jio Platforms had filed its draft IPO papers with Sebi in June 2026. The IPO is expected to hit the market later this year, although investors will have to wait for the company’s formal announcement for the exact dates.

Jio IPO Price Band

The Jio Platforms IPO price band has not been announced yet. The company will disclose the floor price or price band closer to the IPO launch. Therefore, the final issue price and the valuation at which investors will subscribe to the shares are also not available yet.

Jio IPO GMP

The Jio Platforms IPO GMP (Grey Market Premium) is not available yet. Since the IPO price band and opening dates have not been announced, there is currently no meaningful IPO-related pricing information for calculating or tracking the grey market premium.

Investors should also note that GMP is an unofficial market indicator and is not guaranteed to reflect the actual listing price.

Jio IPO Size

Jio Platforms plans to issue up to 27 crore fresh equity shares, equivalent to around 2.9 per cent of its post-issue equity capital, according to its draft prospectus. At the reported issue size of around Rs 37,700 crore ($3.8 billion), the IPO would become the largest in India’s stock-market history.

At the estimated issue size of about Rs 37,700 crore ($3.8 billion), the offering would surpass Hyundai Motor India’s $3.3 billion-equivalent listing in 2024 and become the largest IPO in India. A proposed IPO by the National Stock Exchange, estimated at about Rs 30,000 crore, would also be smaller.

The National Stock Exchange (NSE) is also preparing for an IPO, but its proposed issue is expected to be smaller than Jio’s.

Jio IPO: Where Will The Money Go?

A major portion of the IPO proceeds will be used to reduce debt. According to the draft prospectus, Jio Platforms plans to use up to Rs 27,500 crore of the net proceeds to repay or prepay, either fully or partly, outstanding borrowings of Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd (RJIL), its material subsidiary. The remaining proceeds will be used for general corporate purposes.

Jio Platforms IPO Valuation

The proposed IPO could value Jio Platforms at around $137 billion, according to PTI citing people familiar with the matter. The valuation makes the issue one of the most closely watched listings not just in India but among large technology IPOs globally.

Jio Platforms houses Reliance’s digital businesses, with its telecom operations forming the core of the business.

Jio Subscriber Base

Jio remains India’s largest telecom operator by mobile connections. Reliance Jio Infocomm had around 506 million mobile customers and a 39.29 per cent share of India’s mobile connections, according to the draft prospectus. The company had more than 53.5 crore subscribers as of July 2026, making it the world’s second-largest single-country mobile operator by subscriber count after China Mobile.

Jio also had around 26.85 crore 5G customers as of June 2026 and operates what it describes as the largest 5G Standalone network outside China. In fixed-line connections, Jio had a 32.89 per cent market share, with around 157.9 million customers.

JioAirFiber And 5G Business

Jio has expanded beyond traditional mobile services into broadband, fixed wireless access, cloud, artificial intelligence and enterprise network services. The company said it leads the global Fixed Wireless Access segment with around 1.5 crore subscribers.

Jio also claims that its 5G network carries close to 60 per cent of India’s wireless data traffic, highlighting the scale of its network infrastructure.

Jio Platforms Financial Performance

Jio Platforms reported strong financial growth in FY26. Its revenue stood at Rs 1,46,885 crore, which was up 14.5 per cent year-on-year, while its profit after tax was Rs 30,053 crore, which was 15 per cent higher than that in the previous year FY25.

The financial performance will be closely watched by investors when the company releases its final IPO documents and sets the issue price.

Reliance Industries owns around 66.4 per cent of Jio Platforms, according to the draft prospectus. Global technology companies Meta and Google together hold around 17.7 per cent. Jio Platforms attracted more than Rs 1.5 lakh crore from global investors in 2020, including Meta, Google, KKR, Silver Lake, General Atlantic and other strategic and financial investors.

Meta invested Rs 43,574 crore for a 9.99 per cent stake, while Google invested Rs 33,737 crore for a 7.73 per cent holding.

The Jio Platforms IPO will mark a major milestone for the Reliance group. It will be the first public offering from the Reliance group since 2008 and the first IPO of a consumer-focused business within the conglomerate.

Jio Platforms is chaired by Mukesh Ambani, while his eldest son Akash Ambani is its managing director. Akash is also chairman of Reliance Jio Infocomm.
