Expressing grief over the loss of yet another life in wild elephant attack at Aralam, Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president Sunny Joseph demanded the urgent intervention of the authorities in the matter.

In a statement, he said repeated demands had been raised before the Forest department and Aralam farm officials to take effective steps to ensure the safety of Scheduled Tribe families in the region.

He said that at a recent meeting convened by Forest officials, there was a demand to deploy additional rapid response teams to curb the increasing threat from wild elephants. Concerns were also flagged over the delay in constructing the proposed forest boundary wall. Despite the discussions, he alleged that no effective intervention had been made by the authorities.

Calling for immediate and comprehensive measures to tackle elephant attacks and wild animal incursions, Mr. Joseph urged the government to provide urgent financial assistance to the family of Aneesh, who lost his life on Friday.
