A massive rally was taken out in Bagalkot on Sunday, as part of the Virat Hindu Samavesha and Shobha Yatre.

This is one of the several Samavesha rallies being organised by Hindutva organisations to celebrate the centenary celebrations of the RSS.

The guests inaugurated the rally by worshipping cows. The procession started from the Sri Venkateswara Temple.

Activists shouted slogans like Jai Sri Ram and Jai Shivaji.

Folk artists performed along with the procession. Children dressed as great personalities and freedom fighters rode in vehicles and walked along side.

The police made strict security arrangements for the rally, the second such procession taken out in the city after the stone-throwing incident on February 19.

The procession moved in a small lane in front of the Panka Masjid, the site of stone-throwing.

The police put up 15 ft tall curtains covering the front wall of the mosque to prevent any untoward incidents.

Additional CCTV cameras were placed at important circles and in sensitive areas of the city and a large number of police officers and personnel were deployed.

Strict instructions were also given to the organizers to carry out the procession peacefully with the police issuing notices to some leaders of Hindutva organisations urging them not to indulge in activities that can disturb law and order.

MP P.C. Gaddigoudar and the former MLA Veeranna Charantimath, Rajya Sabha member Narayanasa Bhandage, MLC Hanamant Nirani, leaders, including Rajashekhar Shilwantar, and others participated.
