A shocking video from inside a train, showing water dripping from the roof onto food in the pantry car, has reignited discussion over hygiene standards for food served onboard. The clip, recorded by a passenger on the train and later shared on social media, has drawn widespread attention, with many asking for accountability from the authorities.
“Jo train mein safar karte hain unlogo ke liye ek video dikhane wala hoon ki jo khaana khaate hain na train ka wo kaise banta hai (I am going to show you a video for people who travel by train. I am going to show you how the food on train is made),” the man said in the clip posted on Instagram.
“Hum Paisa De Rahe Hain Khaane Ka”
In the clip, he was seen walking into the pantry car of the train and filming what appeared to be water leaking from the roof directly over trays of food that would later be handed to passengers. “Ye galat baat hai. Hum paisa de rahe hain khaane ka, iss khaane ka paisa nahi de rahe (This is wrong. I am paying for food, not for this food),” he added.
As the passenger continued recording, he pointed the camera towards the food kept open beneath the dripping water, questioning how they can serve such meals to passengers. The staff member was heard suggesting that the water was only cooling the food.
In the caption, he wrote, “Train ka food mat khana, kiya hota h dekho (Don’t consume train’s food, see what happens here).”
Internet Says, “Don’t Eat Railway Food”
The video has since gone viral, sparking a fresh debate over hygiene and food safety in railway pantry cars. Several social media users expressed concern about the alleged conditions and urged the railways to take note of such unhygienic practices.
“I don’t eat anything in train or platform better hai bhuke raho, but don’t eat railway food,” wrote a user.
Another said, “Railway ke upar Kadi se Kadi Kanoon kaarvayi honi chahie Janata ke swasthya ke sath khilvad Kiya ja raha hai.”
“Yuck! That’s the reason I never eat on trains,” commented an individual.
“They serve the worst unhygienic food and charge too much as per quantity and quality, but phle bat to ye India hai, dusri baat kisiko farak nai padta, koi mare, kate ticket pura mehanga,” someone else mentioned.
Meanwhile, IRCTC reacted to the viral clip, asking, “Dear Sir, please share your Journey details and PNR in DM.”
