India Vs Brazil, Football Live Score: Pedro SCORES For BRA After 2nd Gurpreet Howler, 0-2 At 42′

This is just mind-bogglingly bad from Gurpreet. Estevao gives a cut-in and shoots and he almost diverts a nothing shot into the net. It needed a Apuia last-second clearance to prevent that.

42′ Pedro scores 2nd for Brazil! Another howler from Gurpreet. Pedro gets it right in the centre and hits it straight at the goalkeeper. It hits him on the body and still goes it. Shambolic goalkeeping.

39′ Santos shoots from distance, and it’s blocked by Anwar. India are struggling to get out of their box here. Either they are failing to stay onside or not putting their chances away.

35′ Pedro gets another shot away, this time from inside the box and it comes off the post. India lucky to be managing this.

Time for the first hydration break in the Kolkata heat. India have had a moment or two but not much more than that.

28′ Estevão makes it 0-1! He cuts inside from the right, does a little step-over, and shoots at the near post. Gurpreet gets a hand to it but it’s weak and he parries it into the net. Needed to do better there.

27′ India wins a corner through Mishra’s shot from distance. Thapa’s delivery is good but punched away by the keeper.

23′ Debutant pedro shoots from a long way out to catch Gurpreet off-guard but it’s wide over the bar.

20′ Vinicius goes through 2 defenders to almost hug Gurpreet. His shot is poor and it’s deflected by the goalkeeper for a corner.

Manvir shoots from 25 yards. He gets a long ball from the goalie, brings it down and shoots it second-time. Over the bar.

16′ Manvir once again finds himself in the penalty box but is outmuscled by Marquinhos. India wins a throw.

13′ A beautiful passing move from India sees them beat the press and Manvir enter the penalty box. He falls over just before taking the shot. There are muted appeals for a penalty.

Once again on the left wing, it’s that long ball from the Brazil midfield. Bijoy shoulder-barges Vinicius and is floored. The left-winger is called offside before he can get the shot away.

8′ It’s Vinicius again and this time he runs all the way through the byline to get a shot on the near post, which Gurpreet saves, going low to his right.

Vinicius gets a long ball on the left wing and gets a shot away. He’s off-balance thanks to some good, close-in defending from India.

6′ The throw wins a corner. India go short and win another corner. Thapa tries a SHOT from distance and ooo, he wasn’t too far away. Just over.

5′ Ashique is released on the left wing, but his cross is not good enough. It goes out for a throw.

1′ Yep, we are sill in the first minute and Brazil get their first shot, with Estevao kicking it wide from the D.

Vinicius gets released immediately after the kickoff. He keeps the ball in and earns a corner but it’s wasted.

India, in blue, are kicking from left to right. Brazil are going right to left.

The crowd is ready. It’s packed with Indian supporters, but a large share of them are wearing yellow. The players are coming out in the middle and we are only minutes away from kick-off.

Hosting the mighty Brazilian national team perfectly aligns with Kolkata’s historic legacy of welcoming global footballing royalty.

The passionately sports-crazed city fondly remembers hosting Pele and the star-studded New York Cosmos at Eden Gardens in 1977, as well as witnessing a Lionel Messi-led Argentina secure a victory over Venezuela at the Salt Lake Stadium in 2011. Now, as the iconic Yellow jersey graces the pitch, Kolkata once again proves it is India’s undisputed, beating footballing heart.

Facing a globally dominant force like Brazil presents an unprecedented tactical nightmare for Khalid Jamil’s men. India is expected to surrender the majority of possession, forcing them to meticulously defend deep around their own penalty box for extended, grueling periods.

The Blue Tigers will heavily rely on the explosive pace of attackers like Ryan Williams and Ashique Kuruniyan to launch rapid counter-attacks, while fearless defender Anwar Ali must consistently disrupt Brazil’s rhythmic, dangerous offensive transitions.

Paris Saint-Germain star Marquinhos expressed deep appreciation for the overwhelming support the Selecao receives in India. Acknowledging that Kolkata represents one of their largest global fanbases outside of Brazil, he described the tour as a “golden opportunity.”

The match against the world-class Brazilian attackers will mark his monumental 90th international appearance for the Blue Tigers. Even opposing star Marquinhos explicitly acknowledged this impressive achievement, praising Sandhu’s professionalism.

Defending against the likes of Vinicius Junior will undoubtedly be the ultimate test to crown Sandhu’s remarkable, long-standing dedication to the Indian national football team over the years.

To accommodate the glamorous fixture against Brazil, India made a highly controversial administrative decision to withdraw from the inaugural FIFA ASEAN Cup.

The two international competitions presented a direct scheduling clash, forcing the All India Football Federation to choose between competitive regional tournament action and this high-profile invitational friendly. Critics emphasize that participating in genuine competitive matches against equally ranked regional opponents would have offered the Blue Tigers significantly more practical developmental value.

Bringing the five-time world champions to Kolkata has incurred astronomical costs, sparking intense financial debates. Reports indicate the overall expenditure for hosting this single friendly ranges between an astonishing Rs 50 crore and Rs 70 crore.

Additionally, the All India Football Federation reportedly spent roughly Rs 6 crore exclusively on chartering a private flight for Brazil’s extensive 90-member delegation. This immense financial output starkly contrasts with the ongoing structural and economic struggles plaguing Indian domestic football.

The ambitious decision to host Brazil has not been universally celebrated. Former Indian national captain Bhaichung Bhutia has heavily criticized the All India Football Federation’s priorities.

He argues that investing heavily in a singular, high-profile glamorous exhibition match offers minimal long-term value. Instead, Bhutia passionately advocates for channeling those massive funds directly into struggling domestic football clubs and essential grassroots development, which he believes are desperately needed to genuinely elevate the standard of Indian football.

While the Brazilian squad features spectacular global talents, several notable superstars are absent from this Asian tour.

Attacker Raphinha was ruled out entirely, forcing Ancelotti to explore alternative offensive combinations. Furthermore, Brazil made a bold tactical shift by completely leaving out their established 2026 World Cup goalkeeping trio of Alisson, Ederson, and Weverton.

Instead, Corinthians’ Hugo Souza will take charge between the posts as the undisputed first-choice goalkeeper.

Under the tactical guidance of head coach Khalid Jamil, the Blue Tigers approach this monumental clash with a developing, resilient identity. They recently showcased their fighting spirit in a gritty 1-1 draw against Panama in Bengaluru, where Ryan Williams secured an early lead.

Throughout 2026, India’s mixed record includes a victory over Hong Kong and another draw against Tajikistan, demonstrating a foundation built on compact defending and rapid transitions. It’ll surely be tested to the T against Brazil’s defenders today but if they can get some joy out of it, nothing like it.

The Selecao arrived in Kolkata riding a wave of positive momentum after a productive tour in Australia. Ancelotti tested new tactical combinations across two friendly matches against the Socceroos.

They secured a hard-fought 1-1 draw in the opening fixture before unleashing their attacking prowess in a convincing 4-2 victory, with Vinicius Junior brilliantly scoring and assisting, proving they remain a lethal force internationally.

Following a highly disappointing exit against Norway in the 2026 World Cup pre-quarterfinals, Brazil is undergoing a significant transition.

Head coach Carlo Ancelotti is utilizing this match as a vital stepping stone in his comprehensive rebuilding process. By integrating emerging young talents with established international veterans, Ancelotti aims to construct a formidable squad capable of challenging for major honors, specifically targeting the 2028 Copa America.

The World Cup early exit has put him under a bit of pressure, with his tactics getting found out quite often. In India, he would see the best opportunity to get this side firing and get a taste of big wins.

This match is pitting fifth-ranked Brazil against an Indian side currently languishing at 138th in the world. While Brazil frequently competes for global dominance, India recently failed to qualify for the 2027 Asian Cup and has never reached a World Cup.

Despite the glaring mismatch, the All India Football Federation views this fixture as a historic opportunity to provide invaluable exposure and attract new followers to the domestic game.

Saturday night will witness a monumental chapter in sporting history as the Indian national team faces Brazil in their first-ever international meeting. Hosted at Kolkata’s iconic Salt Lake Stadium, this invitational friendly brings the five-time world champions to a country still striving to establish itself in Asian football. The sheer magnitude of this fixture has electrified the entire city, promising fans an unforgettable footballing spectacle and a massive reality check for the ambitious Blue Tigers.

India’s lineup features goalkeepers Albino Gomes, Gurpreet Singh Sandhu, Prabhsukhan Singh Gill, and Som Kumar. The defense relies on Abhishek Singh Tekcham, Akash Mishra, Anwar Ali, Bijoy Varghese, Hmingthanmawia Ralte, Jay Gupta, Pramveer, and Ricky Meetei Haobam.

Midfielders include Anirudh Thapa, Ashique Kuruniyan, Farukh Choudhary, Lalengmawia Ralte, Macarton Nickson, Mohammed Sanan, Ricky Shabong, and Sahal Abdul Samad.

Forwards Edmund Lalrindika, Irfan Yadwad, Manvir Singh, Rahim Ali, Ryan Williams, and Vikram Partap Singh complete Khalid Jamil’s determined squad.

Brazil’s formidable roster features goalkeepers Hugo Souza, Pedro Morisco, and Otavio. The defensive line boasts Arthur Dias, Douglas Santos, Gabriel Magalhaes, Jair, Marquinhos, Matheuzinho, Mauro Junior, Vitor Reis, and Wesley.

Midfield options include Andrey Santos, Breno Bidon, Bruno Guimaraes, Danilo Santos, Douglas Luiz, and Gabriel Bontempo. Leading the attack are Endrick, Stephen, Joao Pedro, Pedro, Rayan, Samuel Lino, and the electrifying Vinicius Junior.

This blend of youth and immense experience highlights Ancelotti’s strategic vision for the future.
