Reliance Foundation Founder and Chairperson Nita M. Ambani spoke to archer Chikitha Taniparthi to congratulate her on a gold-winning debut at the Asian Games 2026 in Japan, telling her she had made ‘all girls so proud.’

Chikitha, a Reliance Foundation athlete, won two gold medals in compound archery, in the women’s team and mixed team events. She also topped the ranking round and secured India’s first quota place for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics in the compound mixed team event.

Speaking to the archer as the Games concluded, Mrs. Ambani said Chikitha would be an inspiration to many girls in India and around the world. “You are going to be an inspiration for so many girls in our country and around the world,” she said.

Chikitha said it was her first Asian Games and that she was happy to have won two medals and brought India an Olympic quota, the first in the compound category. Asked by Mrs. Ambani whether she had celebrated with chocolates and ice cream, the archer said she had no time because of the number of media interactions, calls and messages.

Mrs. Ambani asked Chikitha to pass on her congratulations to her parents, saying all parents work hard to see their children grow. Chikitha said her father is a farmer. “Farmers are the heart of our country,” Mrs. Ambani said, adding that Chikitha was making the nation proud as a farmer’s daughter.

The Reliance Foundation chief assured the archer of continued support. “If you need any help from Reliance Foundation, you know that we all are there to support you,” she said. Chikitha said she was looking forward to staying consistent over a longer period, and the two agreed to meet once she returned to India.

India’s archery contingent had a strong Games. Seventeen-year-old Kumkum Mohod became the first Indian woman to win an individual recurve gold, beating South Korea’s Oh Yejin 6-5 in the final. The archers finished with nine medals, including five gold. India ended fourth overall with 21 gold, 27 silver and 37 bronze medals, 85 in all, with fifth-placed Uzbekistan having another event to go.
