The trailer of the much-awaited series Special Ops 2 has finally dropped, and fans are brimming with excitement to see Karan Tacker back on screen.

It marks the third instalment in Neeraj Pandey’s gripping action-espionage thriller franchise, where Karan reprises his fan-favourite role of Farooq Ali — a RAW agent who operates in high-risk, high-pressure zones. Farooq Ali remains one of the most cherished characters of Karan’s career, and he has portrayed the role with remarkable dedication and depth.

Karan has been consistently collaborating with Neeraj in recent years, and speaking about their bond, he shared, “Getting a script from Neeraj Sir is one of the biggest things for me. Outside of television, this was exactly the kind of opportunity I had been seeking as an actor — and I couldn’t have asked for a more fitting collaboration than with Neeraj Sir.”

He also recalled a conversation with Neeraj Pandey from the time Special Ops 1 had just been released. He shared, “He asked me how I felt about the response. I told him it was amazing. Then he said what if people didn’t respond like this? Would it still feel amazing? I said yes because I had a great time shooting it. And that’s when he told me the only real takeaway from any project should be the experience you had while making it. That one lesson has stayed with me ever since.”

Coming to Special Ops 2, the makers have officially announced that the new season will premiere on JioCinema starting July 11.

The trailer’s official synopsis reads: “One is a relentless hero, the other is a terror mastermind. In a race against time, Himmat Singh and his team are on a mission to end a 19-year-long manhunt.”

The series returns with its ensemble cast, including Kay Kay Menon as Himmat Singh, Karan Tacker as Farooq Ali, Vinay Pathak as Abbas Sheikh, and Vipul Gupta as Balakrishna “Bala” Reddy, among others.

What’s Next for Karan Tacker?

Apart from Special Ops 2, Karan has a packed lineup ahead. He will next be seen in Tanvi: The Great, directed by Anupam Kher. The film recently premiered at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival’s Marché du Film and is slated to be screened today, June 19, at the New York Indian Film Festival. The theatrical release is scheduled for July 18.
