Trump Announces First-Ever Republican Midterm Convention In Dallas On Sept 9-10

United States President Donald Trump on Tuesday announced that the Republican Party will hold its first-ever national convention ahead of the midterm elections, with the two-day event scheduled to take place in Dallas, Texas, on September 9 and 10.
Making the announcement on Truth Social, Trump described the gathering as a historic first for the Republican Party.
“BIG NEWS! For the first time ever, the Republican Party will hold a MIDTERM CONVENTION. It will be in Dallas, Texas — One of my favourite places in the World. It will be fantastic! It has never been done before, and will be a truly Historic Event,” Trump wrote.
He said the convention would celebrate what he described as the achievements of his administration since returning to the White House.
“We are going to celebrate the GREAT AMERICAN COMEBACK, and the incredible successes of the American People who transformed our Country through the America First Agenda — NO TAX ON TIPS, NO TAX ON OVERTIME, NO TAX ON SOCIAL SECURITY, STRONGER BORDERS, SAFEST EVER COMMUNITIES, LOWER COSTS AND REAL AFFORDABILITY, MORE JOBS, AMERICAN ENERGY DOMINANCE, AND SO MUCH MORE!” Trump said.

In the post, Trump also wrote, “Oil Prices are dropping sharply, even as we denuclearise Iran. We are delivering on the promises that politicians talked about for decades, but never got done.”
According to Trump, the event will feature Americans from different sectors, along with entertainment.
“At the Event, we will have hardworking Americans, our Great Innovators, Entrepreneurs, Manufacturers, First Responders, and Job Creators who are powering our Nation’s Golden Age, and proving that America’s best days are still ahead of us. We will also have lots of Great Entertainment — It will be a RALLY like none other!” he wrote.
Referring to the upcoming 250th anniversary of the United States, Trump added, “America’s 250th Birthday is approaching, and together, we are building the foundation for the NEXT 250 YEARS of American Greatness. Dallas will take center stage on September 9th and 10th as we celebrate our Nation, our achievements, and our bright future. THE GOLDEN AGE OF AMERICA HAS ONLY JUST BEGUN!”
The convention comes ahead of the US midterm elections, which will determine whether Republicans retain control of Congress. While both major US political parties traditionally hold national conventions during presidential election years, Republicans have not previously organised a national convention specifically for the midterm elections.
The event will be held in Dallas, placing a spotlight on Texas ahead of the state’s Senate race between Democratic nominee James Talarico and Republican nominee Ken Paxton.
Earlier this year, the Republican National Committee amended its procedures to allow for such a gathering by approving changes during its winter meeting in January. Democrats had also considered organising a similar event ahead of the midterm elections, but did not move forward with the proposal.
