US-Iran War News Live: Fresh Strike Hits Iran As US Naval Blockade Set To Begin Tuesday
US-Iran War Latest News Updates Today Live: Multiple explosions have been reported around Iran’s southern coastline, including Qeshm Island in the Strait of Hormuz and areas near Bandar Abbas, as fighting between the United States and Iran intensifies around the strategic waterway.
Iran’s state-run IRNA news agency reported that missiles were launched by what it described as the “enemy” towards Qeshm Island on Sunday. No casualties were reported in that attack. Qeshm lies directly in the Strait of Hormuz and holds strategic military and economic importance for Iran.
Iranian media also reported explosions near Bandar Abbas, Jask and Sirik, all located along or close to the Strait of Hormuz, shortly after the US announced fresh military strikes.
The latest attacks come amid an escalating battle for control of the key shipping route. US forces have carried out strikes on Iranian missile systems, air defences and naval assets near Hormuz, while Iran has reiterated that the strait is closed. The United States, however, maintains that the waterway remains open.
The Strait of Hormuz is a critical route for global energy supplies, and the renewed hostilities have already pushed oil prices higher and raised concerns over further disruption to international shipping.
