KL Rahul is back in the spotlight after a stunning performance in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL), where he smashed an unbeaten 152 score for Delhi Capitals, registering one of the highest individual totals in the tournament’s history. Rahul’s unbeaten 152 is now the third-highest individual score in the tournament, putting him in an elite league alongside Chris Gayle (175) and Brendon McCullum (158).

The knock has once again pushed Rahul into the headlines and along with it, an old interview of his father-in-law, Suniel Shetty, is resurfacing.

In an earlier conversation with Mid-Day, Suniel Shetty had said about KL Raul, “Don’t be such a beautiful human being that we seem inferior when it comes to you.”

He added, “You cannot be such a good boy that everybody believes that this is what goodness is about and not you…” Speaking about his daughter, Athiya Shetty, he had also said, “I always tell Athiya that you’re blessed.”

KL Rahul and Athiya Shetty were first introduced through a mutual friend and began dating around 2019. The two kept their relationship away from the public eye for years, making only occasional appearances together. They tied the knot on January 23, 2023, in an intimate ceremony at Suniel Shetty’s Khandala farmhouse, attended by close friends and family. In 2025, the couple welcomed their first child, a baby girl named Evaarah.

KL Rahul and Athiya Shetty introduced their daughter to their fans and followers through a heartfelt social media post, revealing her name on the cricketer’s 33rd birthday. Sharing a joint post on Instagram, the couple wrote: “Our baby girl, our everything. Evaarah ~ Gift of God.”

Along with the announcement, they shared a picture of Rahul holding the baby, while Athiya looked at her lovingly. They also explained the meaning behind the name, writing, “Evaarah, meaning Gift of God. Vipula, in honour of her great nani and protector. Rahul, her papa.” The couple further revealed that their daughter’s full name is Evaarah V.R. (Evaarah Vipula Rahul).

Athiya, daughter of actor Suniel Shetty, made her Bollywood debut with Hero and went on to feature in films like Mubarakan. She was last seen in Motichoor Chaknachoor, alongside Nawazuddin Siddiqui. The film follows a 36-year-old man working in Dubai who returns to India in search of a bride and ends up forming an unlikely connection with his younger neighbour.
