NEW DELHI: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi slammed the Modi government for bring back ‘the three black laws’, referring to the farm bills passed in 2020, while addressing a gathering of farmers in Bihar’s Purnia.
Attacking the Modi government, the Congress MP said that land from farmers is being taken and gifted to industrialists. “Land is taken from you and given as gift to big industrialists like Adani,” he told the farmers.
“You are pressured when it comes to fertilisers and seed & money is taken away from you. PM Modi tried to do the biggest thing – he brought the three black laws and tried to snatch away what was yours, right under your nose,” he said.
He also praised the farmers for standing up against the government saying, “It was good that all farmers of the country stood against it and they didn’t step back.”
Rahul’s address falls on the second day of his Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra‘s march across the state where it made an entry through Kishanganj district and made a night halt at adjoining Araria.
He is also scheduled to hold a rally in Purnia where the Congress leader is likely to be joined by party president Mallikarjun Kharge. The party would be aiming to bring back its Lok Sabha campaign on track after Nitish Kumar left the INDIA bloc and joined NDA, taking oath for the 9th time as Bihar CM.
