Many markets of Delhi are always crowded and incidents of mobile snatching and theft are frequently reported from here. Here are some places where you should take extra precautions to safeguard your belongings

Recently, the mobile phone of the French Ambassador to India, Thierry Mathou, was stolen in the pre-Diwali rush at Chandni Chowk Market in Delhi. The incident reportedly occurred near the Jain Temple around 3:20pm on October 20 while the ambassador was visiting the bustling market without security personnel.
Although Delhi Police have high-security measures in place in this market, Chandni Chowk is known for frequent thefts due to the heavy footfall it receives. The police have installed loud sirens on their vehicles to remind people to take special care of their belongings due to the regular incidents of theft. But Chandni Chowk is not the only one; there are several other large and crowded markets in Delhi where police advise visitors to exercise caution.
- Sadar Bazar: One of Delhi’s oldest and busiest markets, Sadar Bazar also sees frequent incidents of phone snatching. Delhi Police consistently advise people to be vigilant with their belongings in this area.
- Mayur Vihar: Frequent incidents of mobile snatching and theft occur in the Mayur Vihar area of Delhi, necessitating extra caution for visitors and residents alike.
- Karol Bagh: Karol Bagh, another crowded market in Delhi, attracts people from across the country. However, phone snatching incidents are common here, with reports surfacing regularly.
- Lodhi Colony: Lodhi Colony is the same area where a Deputy Director from the Ministry of Defence was injured in a phone-snatching incident involving two individuals on a red motorcycle.
- Bhajanpura: Bhajanpura is also prone to phone-snatching attempts. In one notable incident, a female constable was injured during an attempted phone theft.
- Sultanpuri: Frequent incidents of phone snatching are reported from Sultanpuri. In one instance, two men on a bike attempted to snatch a woman’s phone, pulling her out of an e-rickshaw in the process.
Delhi Police urge the public to remain vigilant and take extra precautions in these high-risk areas to avoid becoming victims of theft.
