News of theft regularly grabs headlines, but this case from Khandwa, Madhya Pradesh, is both shocking and straight out of a film script. In a bizarre twist, a thief befriended a family’s pet dog before committing the robbery by feeding it roti and meat for five days. On the night of the theft, the dog, usually alert and aggressive around strangers, remained completely silent.
Where Did The Incident Happen?
This unusual incident took place in the Indore Naka area of Khandwa, where a man named Harilal lives with his family. Their pet dog is known for being sharp and vigilant, especially at night. “Our dog never ignores any noise at night,” Harilal said, “but that night, it didn’t react at all.”
From Feeding The Dog To Stealing Gold
Harilal alleged that a young man named Gangaram had been seen loitering near his house for several days. Every evening, Gangaram would feed the dog, sometimes with roti and vegetables, sometimes even meat. “At first, we didn’t think anything of it. We assumed he was just a boy from the neighbourhood,” Harilal recalled. “But everything changed after the theft.”
The Night Of The robbery
On the night of the robbery, there was a birthday celebration nearby. After attending the party, Harilal’s family returned home and went to bed late. Around 1 am, the thief entered the house and stole five gold coins from a cupboard. The next morning, the cupboard was found open, the jewellery gone, and the dog still sat quietly in the same spot.
Clues Lead To Gangaram
Harilal filed a police complaint, and Gangaram was questioned but later released. However, some pearls were found lying near his home, raising further suspicion. Harilal has now approached the Collector during a public hearing, demanding a thorough investigation.
This incident isn’t just about a strange robbery; it’s a lesson in how trickery can be used to deceive. It also shows how important it is to stay alert to unusual behaviour, even when it seems harmless. Sometimes, the greatest danger comes disguised as routine.
