US Envoy Sergio Gor Visits Indian Army’s Western Command With Indo-Pacific Command Chief

US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor and Admiral Samuel J. Paparo, Commander of the US Indo-Pacific Command, on Monday visited the Indian Army’s Western Command headquarters and held discussions with Army Commander Lt Gen Manoj Kumar Katiyar on strategic security dynamics along India’s western front.
The Headquarters Integrated Defence Staff said Paparo called on Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan, with discussions focusing on enhancing military cooperation, interoperability and joint operational capabilities.
“US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor and USINDOPACOM Commander Adm Samuel J. Paparo visited HQ Western Command and held substantive discussions with Lt Gen Manoj Kumar Katiyar on strategic security dynamics along India’s Western Front,” the Western Command said in a post on X.
The Western Command headquarters is located in Chandimandir in Haryana’s Panchkula district.
According to the Command, the delegation was comprehensively briefed on the Western Front perspective, including operational preparedness, the Command’s legacy, execution of Operation Sindoor, and the Indian Army’s role in nation-building and regional stability.
Photos and posts shared from the visit showed the US ambassador and the Indo-Pacific Command chief interacting with senior Army officials.
Gor later described it as “a great visit” with Paparo and Western Command officials, adding that joint efforts were key to a safe Indo-Pacific and thanking Lt Gen Katiyar for the welcome.
Paparo is on an official visit to India from February 14 to 19, according to the Integrated Defence Staff.
