Kajol Refused To Work With Aamir Khan For This Reason – News18

Kajol is one of the most popular actresses in Bollywood. She has been a part of some of the most iconic films like Kuch Kuch Hota hai, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, My Name is Khan, Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jaayenge, and more. The actress is known for her versatility and enjoys a massive fan base. Even though she does fewer films now, she has been quite particular about the scripts and focuses on doing content-driven projects. She was dominating the screens in the 1990s and early 2000s. Now, one of the directors has revealed that Kajol once refused to work with Aamir Khan on a film.

In an interview, director Dharmesh Darshan revealed that Kajol once refused to do a film with the star. Reportedly, the film was Dharmesh Darshan-directorial Mela. Kajol refused to do it because, at that time, Aamir had a reputation for taking a lot of takes. Kajol was a spontaneous actress who would usually deliver scenes in a single take.

Dharmesh Darshan said, “All my friends had worked with her, but I worked with Lolo (Karisma Kapoor). Kajol was supposed to be in Mela, but there was some discomfort from her side. She was not sure about Aamir at that point, though later on they did (work together). She’s a one-take actor, and he takes many takes. So, she had those reservations about her spontaneity. But she was very gracious; she came to my house and explained it to me. Kajol was not known to do these things.”

Later, the film was made with Twinkle Khanna in the lead role. The film is considered one of the most unsuccessful films of Aamir Khan’s career. Even though it was able to perform well at the box office, the film received a lot of negative reviews.

Dharmesh also revealed that he initially did not want to make Mela, but it was his mother who convinced him. He also added that Aamir Khan’s focus was more on giving a perfect launch to his brother, Faisal Khan, with the film. He revealed that Aamir did not pay much attention to the development of the film.
