UN General Assembly 2026 Live Updates: Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian arrived in New York for the 81st United Nations General Assembly, where he is set to address world leaders as the war between Iran and the United States remains a major focus of the diplomatic gathering.

Pezeshkian’s arrival comes a day after US President Donald Trump delivered a combative UN address in which he said Washington could either reach a deal with Tehran after the US midterm elections or “annihilate” the Islamic Republic.

Meanwhile, Trump’s UN speech covered several other major global issues, while his meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy brought the Russia-Ukraine war into focus. Zelenskyy called for an energy ceasefire with Russia and urged Trump to use his upcoming meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping to leverage Beijing’s influence over Russian President Vladimir Putin.
