Florida man arrested for threatening Donald Trump and J D Vance on social media – Times of India
Michael W Wiseman, a resident of Florida, was apprehended by the Jupiter police department on Friday for allegedly making threats against former US President Donald Trump, US senator J D Vance, and their families through social media posts. The charges against Wiseman include written threats to kill.
According to Jupiter police Maj Don Hennessy, Wiseman was arrested without any resistance and subsequently placed in Palm Beach County Jail.A jail employee confirmed Wiseman’s detention on Friday night but could not provide information regarding his legal representation.
Investigators revealed that Wiseman had posted numerous threatening messages on Facebook targeting Trump and Vance, who recently secured the Republican presidential and vice presidential nominations, respectively. The threats also extended to “concerning bodily harm” against the Trump and Vance family members, as said by the police.
The police received multiple reports about the threatening posts from concerned individuals who contacted them in person and online.
The investigation was a collaborative effort involving the Jupiter police department, the US Secret Service, and the Palm Beach County State Attorney’s Office.
