Harmanpreet Kaur is the captain of the Indian women’s cricket team, and on Tuesday (July 22), she entered her name in the history books by becoming the second Indian cricketer after Mithali Raj to score 1000 ODI runs in England. The 36-year-old right-handed batter from Punjab came out to bat at No. 4 for Women in Blue in the third ODI against the English team, which is currently underway at the Riverside Ground in Chester-le-Street, and achieved the objective by crossing the 20-run mark.
The ongoing match in Chester-le-Street is Harman’s 30th ODI in England, and she has three centuries and five half-centuries to her name.
During her 23-year-long ODI career, Mithali played 41 matches in England and, with the help of two centuries and 13 fifties, amassed a total of 1555 runs.
Harmanpreet is in fact the second non-English batter to score 1000 ODI runs in England.
